Setting The Scene | First Time Gay?

First time gay?

You’ve had a wonderful evening. You dined well, perhaps saw a play, spent a little more time than you’d planned getting lost in the noise of your favourite bar. Now you’re taking him home. And now you need to preserve and enhance the mood of the evening so far. You don’t want to get through the door and find that mood crash, because the light’s wrong, your bedroom’s messy and the home just isn’t a sexy place.

When you lose the thread like that it can be awkward recovering. So rewind. It’s late afternoon and you’re due to go out with that guy you swapped numbers with last week. Here are a few things you might do.

While you’re preparing yourself, prepare your home as well. You want to make it feel good, just as you’re making yourself feel good – with a bath, a shave, a glass of wine, some great music. First of all, tidy the place up. It’s got to look, not merely clean, but cared for. If this is a new man in your life, you don’t want to confront him with way too much information that’s all about your everyday life and isn’t to do with him. And beyond that, ready your home to look sexy.

Have some fresh flowers out. If you smoke, air the place. Either way, have some essential oil burning. That will have you going out in a good mood and the scent, and the feeling of the scent, will still be there when you get back later. Place candles about the rooms you’ll be going to. Light them. Get used to them being there. Get totally comfortable. You don’t want to feel as if you’re contriving a load of effects. It’s not like that. The home should reflect you and help you feel happy being you while you’re welcoming him.
