How to get the most orgasms from your dildo

Dildos come in all shapes and sizes, which is one of their benefits. Some dildos have sucker-cup bases so that you can attach them to a surface and ride or push back against them. Other dildos can be used with a harness as a strap on, for lesbian and straight couples alike. Indeed, retailers estimate that a third of strap on dildos that are sold today go to straight couples who use them so that the woman can penetrate the man anally, which can result in intense prostate orgasms. Dildos can even be worn by men so that they can doubly penetrate their partners.

But no matter what you’re using your dildo for, there are various ways that you can increase the amount of orgasms that you get from them. The Lovers’ Guide has some of the top tips for increasing the orgasmic potential of your dildo.

1     Find your perfect fit. One of the advantages of dildos is that they come in all shapes and sizes. Experiment with long, thick ones and small stumpy ones; try a dildo with an oversized head or heavy veining; pick a dildo made of kinky vinyl or pthalate-free silicone; try a glass dildo that’s been stored in the fridge or heated in a glass of warm water. By trying different types, you’ll find your perfect match and increase your chance of great orgasms.

2     Use lubricant but make sure that you match it to your dildo and your preference. Silicone dildos should never be used with silicone lubricants as the latter will corrode the former. However, silicone lubricant is best for anal sex as it offers the most slipperiness without the potential irritation that can be caused by petroleum jelly or oil based lubricants. Then there are warming and tingling lubricants which some people find add an extra frisson to the experience. As long as they’re not siliocne based these can be used with any toy. Water based lube is generally cheapest of all and can be made to last longer if you keep a water spray next to the bed to ‘reactivate’ it when it starts to get sticky. Obviously if you’re enjoying some dildo play in the shower, you can use the spray (mildly – you don’t want to wash it away) to reactivate it too. Using lubricant increases sensitivity and improves the friction so that you’re likely to get a more intense orgasm from your dildo play.

3     Vary the positioning of your dildo. If you’ve got a dildo with a suction cup on the base then experiment with using it stuck to the wall of the shower (never the glass door in case you buck back hard against it and break the glass) stuck to a table (clean thoroughly before and afterwards) or stuck to a cupboard door (again, clean before and after). By changing the angle of approach you can stimulate different areas, hitting your G-spot or clitoris if you’re female, or your prostate if you’re male. Getting to know your favourite way to be penetrated will increase your orgasms both alone and with your partner, if you choose to share the knowledge (or maybe even put on a dildo show for them.)
