Diocese Of Brooklyn To Pay $27.5 Million To Four Sex Abuse Victims..

The Diocese of Brooklyn on Tuesday agreed to pay a $27.5 million settlement to four men who were sexually abused by a teacher at a Catholic church in Clinton Hill, according the lawyers for the plaintiffs. The men were all repeatedly raped as kids by Angelo Serrano, 67, the former director of religion at St. Lucy’s-St. Patrick’s Church, between 2003 and 2009. “These were egregious incidences of sexual abuse,” one of their attorneys, Ben Rabinowitz, told The Post. “And this all happened after the priests were taught to recognize the signs of abuse.” Serrano was arrested in 2009 for abusing one of the boys, who was then aged 10, and pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual conduct charges in 2011. He’s currently serving a 15-year sentence.
